There are specific exercises for a specific part of the body. This is done in order to produce more significant effects in the selected body part. For upper body work out, there are also specific steps that can be practiced.

There are four famous exercise methods that are effectively practiced by people. These include chest press, pushups, overhead press, and concentration curls.

The first exercise, the chest press is probably the most famous exercise step. This is most commonly easier done with an exercise ball. You first have to lie on your back, on top of the ball. This may also be done while you are lying on a bench or on the floor.

You should make sure that your abdomen is contracted. One option to do it is to use free weights and lift them while lying on your back. Hold a weight on each hand and push them straight up over your body. Pull them down close to you only until they are at the level of your shoulders. This time you will be forming a perpendicular angle from your elbows. Again, you repeat moving the weight upwards. Remember that while pushing up, the weights should not meet in the middle, instead they should remain parallel with each other.

Doing pushups is another very famous exercise. You can do this while supporting yourself against the floor. You repeat the pushups as many as you can. This works mostly on the muscles on your shoulders as well as on your arms.

In doing pushups, you bend at your elbows while maintaining a 900 angle. This will produce a greater resistance. And to add even more resistance and challenge, you can perform pushups while your feet are elevated on an exercise ball.

Remember to maintain body line and do not sag on the part of your hips.

An overhead press is commonly done in order to develop your upper body. You begin by using weights and lifting them above your head. You can do this by either sitting or standing. Make sure to keep your elbows straight and keep palms facing each other positioned slightly in front of you. Repeat this exercise as much as you can.

For more adventurous positions, you can do overhead presses while in different, unconventional and tiring positions. These are done while squatting, lunging, or being supported on a single leg.

Lastly, concentration curls are effective as an upper body workout routine. First, sit on a chair or kneel down. And then situate your arm beside a leg with weights grasped inside your arm. Make sure your palms are facing outside. Then you contract and relax your arm repeatedly while lifting the weight.

These are just the most common exercises and there are still a lot others that can be performed in order to have a good upper body workout.
